About Me (Hossein Rastegar)
I began my studies in Electrical Engineering, following the path that many aspiring engineers naturally took at the time. I specialized in Control Systems because I wanted a broader, more integrated perspective—other electrical engineering majors felt too narrow for my curiosity. Early on, I realized that my fascination wasn’t just with circuits or machines—it was with complex systems on a larger scale: organizations, economies, and societies.
For an engineer, the natural way to explore this curiosity was management. I wanted to understand how economies work, how individuals operate within systems, and how strategies shape outcomes, which led me to pursue an MBA at Sharif University of Technology, combining analytical rigor with strategic insight.
Since then, I’ve built a career as a strategy consultant and business advisor, helping organizations navigate complexity and turn challenges into opportunities. I’ve worked across industries—from oil, gas, mining, steel, and iron ore to food and beverage, hospitality, and tourism—supporting initiatives in sustainability, CSR, strategic planning, marketing, sales, and finance.
Highlights of my experience include:
- Leading due diligence for over 250 Iranian companies as fund manager for the country’s first private equity fund.
- Advising on strategic financing and investment plans for major industrial projects.
- Serving as commercial advisor for a hotel development project, negotiating with international operators like Accor, Mövenpick, and Jumeirah, resulting in HMA and TSA agreements.
- Acting as pre-opening manager for one of Tehran’s major tourism attractions, where I continue to oversee business development, marketing, sales, and finance.
